Frequently Asked Questions
Do you use any chemicals in your products?
No. Some companies label their products as "organic" or "all-natural" but when you read the ingredient lists, they are only using one or two organic ingredients and the rest are chemicals. All of our ingredients are naturally derived and most are ECOCERT certified organic (we state any that are not) and all of our products are FREE of synthetic chemicals, fragrances, waxes, petroleum derivatives, parabens, phthalates, or sulfates. If there is something on our list of ingredients that you are not familiar with, check our glossary or contact us and we will be more than happy to answer your questions.
Are your products vegan?
Are your products hypo-allergenic?
Hypo-allergenic does not mean non-allergenic but rather the most common skin allergens have been removed from the product. This designation may also refer to human testing where exposure did not cause allergic reactions in most of the test subjects. We have taken all necessary steps to ensure we have not used ingredients that contain known allergens. All of our ingredients are listed on the product's box so you can easily avoid ingredients that may cause you irritation.
Are your ingredients refined?
Do your products contain an SPF?
No. Because sunscreens routinely use synthetic and often toxic ingredients and since all organic certification standards prohibit the use of chemical sun blocks, we do not include a sun block in any of our formulas. Instead, we use specific antioxidant-rich ingredients to protect against the sun's UV induced oxidative stress. Our products have natural qualities of protection because of their excellent re-hydrating action of the surface skin tissues. UVA rays are the aging rays and are best countered by topical applications of potent antioxidants. Sunscreens should no longer just contain ingredients to provide adequate broad-spectrum (meaning UVA and UVB) protection. A sunscreen must also contain sufficient amounts of antioxidants to help keep skin inflammation to a minimum. The best protection, of course, is to wear hats and protective clothing and moderating your exposure to the sun in order to prevent premature skin aging.
My products turned a different color, is this normal?
Yes, this is perfectly normal. Since there are no chemicals added to our products to preserve the color, some of our products may change color with age. This is a natural process and is normal. Exposure to light and temperature changes can cause organic ingredients to change color but they are still stable and safe to use. Color change does not indicate spoilage. Seasonal variations in natural ingredients mean that each batch may vary in color.
What is the shelf life of your products?
Our products have a six month to a one year shelf life (depending upon the product). We make all of our products in small batches and we ship your order within 2 business days. We also do not have minimum order amounts. This means that a retail store can purchase one or two items from us at a time, sell them quickly to consumers (you) and reorder as needed, ensuring that the products you purchase are fresh.
I noticed that you have water in your products, do you use a preservative to prevent bacteria from growing?
Yes. We use natural preservatives as well as antioxidants in all of our products to keep bacteria from forming. Certain plant oils, essential oils and herbal extracts have natural preservative properties (i.e. are anti-microbial and anti-bacterial). These ingredients are listed on our product labels and on the outside of our product boxes.
I am very sensitive to fragrance, are your scents chemical based?
